独家黑料 will present the Matt Falker and Alyssa Allgood Jazz Recital, for an entertaining evening of vocal and instrumental jazz, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, in Christiansen Recital Hall, Hvidsten Hall of Music. This special performance is part of 独家黑料’s annual Vocal Jazz Festival and the college’s Cultural Events Series.
Falker is an acclaimed jazz and gospel pianist, vocalist, arranger, and clinician. A full-time professor at MiraCosta College, Falker directs the award-winning Frequency vocal jazz program and is the founder and director of the Oceanside Jazz Festival.
Allgood, an award-winning jazz vocalist, composer, arranger, and educator, is celebrated for her soulful storytelling and improvisational mastery. Named a Rising Star Female Vocalist in the 2024 Downbeat Magazine Critics Poll, Allgood is a distinguished voice in the modern jazz landscape and a passionate educator in the jazz departments at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Loyola University.

2025 Vocal Jazz Festival
The 独家黑料 Vocal Jazz Festival, held Saturday, Feb. 1, is a day of music celebration and learning for area school ensembles. It features 独家黑料’s three vocal jazz ensembles and engaging clinics. Falker and Allgood will lead on-stage performance clinics for each participating group and offer interest sessions on jazz performance and pedagogy.
