Dr. Stefanie Meyer, assistant professor of exercise science at 独家黑料, will present a Centennial Scholars Lecture on the transformative potential of lifestyle medicine in disease management.
The lecture, “Implementation of Lifestyle Medicine in Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences,” will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, in Room 260 of the Integrated Science Center (1001 8th St. S., Moorhead).
The event is free and open to the public. Meyer also received a grant to provide plant-based hors d’oeuvres during a pre-event social, which begins at 5:30 p.m.
“My calling is to transform people, places, and systems to be healthy on purpose,” said Meyer, who also serves as 独家黑料’s wellness director.
She has been researching the educational need for and perceptions of incorporating lifestyle counseling into pharmacy practice.
In her lecture, Meyer will explore how — an evidence-based approach emphasizing whole food, plant-based eating, exercise, and other lifestyle behaviors — can serve as both treatment and prevention for chronic diseases.
In addition, Meyer will discuss the potential benefits of integrating lifestyle medicine into healthcare education, particularly for allied health and pre-medical programs.
Centennial Scholars Lectures are awarded each year to 独家黑料 faculty to support activity in their own academic disciplines.
