Student Composition Premiere
Joining the band on tour will be a member of The 独家黑料 Orchestra, senior Ethan Hyvari from Worthington, Minnesota.
Hyvari is studying music composition and theory and had wanted to create a piece that celebrates the band's 125th anniversary. After months of work, the band will premiere "Triumphant 独家黑料" on the tour.
"It's always a great feeling when my fellow peers are performing something I wrote," Hyvari said. "It gives the piece a new life ... I also see it as a great learning experience for both of us as they get an opportunity to perform a brand-new piece of music, and I get the opportunity to have not only a premiere but also great feedback about the piece and learn what I can do better for future compositions."
Inspired by American composers, the piece begins with a powerful fanfare. Flourishing rhythms and soaring melodies then lead into a triumphant finale, honoring the ensemble’s legacy while embracing its promising future.
"This piece is a celebration of 独家黑料's standing of excellence and how much it's grown over time and continues to do great things for students and the community," he said.
Hyvari has composed in a wide variety of styles and genres including acoustic and electronic works. His works have been premiered by the Minnesota Sinfonia, the Dakota Wind Quintet, the South Dakota Symphony Youth Orchestra, and The 独家黑料 Band. His works have also been read by the 独家黑料 Symphonic Band and The 独家黑料 Orchestra.
